Mediation For Clinical Psychologists Over Five Day Strike
“The Union representing 60 Clinical Psychologists who have given formal notice to the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District Health Boards of five days of full strike action next week will attend mediation tomorrow (Wednesday) in a last ditch attempt to resolve the issues,” said Nadine Marshall, Secretary of the National Union of Public Employees (NUPE) today.
She was commenting on formal mediation called after NUPE served strike notices for the week of 29 August to 2 September over a 30% catch-up claim for relativity with Doctors and Nurses.
“NUPE has already agreed last week with the Boards on the issue of life preserving services for the five day strike with some Clinical Psychologists being on call for particular circumstances,” said Nadine Marshall.
“The Boards needs to front up to mediation with strong evidence that they have been to Government to step in to the dispute to prevent continuing disruption to services across New Zealand. They cannot continue to wash their hands of their responsibility to all health workers following their decision to fund a catch up in nurses’ pay,” said Nadine Marshall.
