Centralised Switchboard For CDHB
A new centralised switchboard for the CDHB will be introduced within the next three months.
Making the announcement, General Manager Hospital & Specialist Services Jock Muir said the system was a positive step forward and would substantially improve switchboard systems.
‘The outcome of a review of the current system recommended that two networked switchboards be created at Christchurch and The Princess Margaret Hospitals. They will provide a fully automated telephone switchboard system for the CDHB,’ he said.
‘As part of the proposal, the switchboard facilities at Christchurch hospital will be substantially improved to include an upgraded PABX system as well as refurbishment of office space.’
Mr Muir said Burwood’s telephone system would be incorporated into the switchboard network. A programme of staff training would be organised to enable a smooth transition.
‘These changes will not result in any redundancies, however staff who have been employed on temporary contracts in anticipation of the centralisation initiative will cease their employment at cutover time,’ he said.
