Grateful family running fundraiser for trust

The family of a child rescued by the Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter is running another event to raise money for Life Flight this weekend.

On August 15, 2002 Loren Tibbs, a nine year old Stokes Valley girl, fell down a 30 metre bank and suffered life threatening injuries. The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to the scene to winch Loren out of the bush, under the care of a Wellington Free Ambulance Paramedic.

After a near miraculous recovery, today Loren is a healthy 12 year old.

Over the past two years the Tibbs family has organised the 'British Spares Middle Earth Motorcycle Tour' around the North Island. These tours have raised over $20,000 for Life Flight.

This weekend the Tibbs have organised another fundraising event.

The British Spares Swap Meet, Charity Auction and Bike Display will be held this Sunday, November 13, from 7:30 am. The event will be held at British Spares, 44 Kiln Street, Silverstream from 7:30am.

The swap meet will begin at 7:30am and the auction will be starting approximately 11am.

Items in the auction include two Project Bikes (1 Triumph 1 Yamaha), a motorcycle lift, workshop equipment, used parts, new motorcycle accessories and other motorcycle related gear.

Bikes on Display will range from 1908 Triumph through to 2005 Kawasaki and the Museum Hotel Race Team will also be attending.

The entry fee is only $2 for buyers and the general public, or $10 for those wishing to set up a table to sell any items.

"Each year the Tibbs family has found a way to raise much needed money for us" says Bettina Burley, Life Flight Marketing Manager. "The Westpac Rescue Helicopter team was there for Loren, and her family continues to be there for us".
