Cancer Society Launches New Website
The Cancer Society has gone live with its revamped website after revisions to make it more user friendly and easier for users to find information about different aspects of the Society’s work.
Chief executive Neil Chave says the current site has been in operation for some seven years and was due for a major makeover.
“The website is used in many different ways by people who are affected by cancer,” Mr Chave says.
It may be people who want to know more about the specific cancer they or a member of their family has; it may be people wanting to learn about lifestyle changes to help prevent cancer; or it may be people wanting information about ways in which they can help the Cancer Society through fundraising, Mr Chave says.
Because the New Zealand Cancer Society has six autonomous divisions, people can use the website to be linked to a local division’s website where they can find about specific services available in their home town.
The site also has a chat room where people can talk about their experiences with cancer, ask questions and find out how other people have coped with illness or loss.
“There are few people in New Zealand who are untouched in some way by cancer, either personally or by association with someone close to them. The website is an important source of reliable and helpful information that many people rely on so we’re delighted to announce these improvements and look forward to users’ positive feedback,” Mr Chave says.
The website address is www.cancernz.org.nz .
