New Appointment for Canterbury District Health Board
The Canterbury District Health Board is
pleased to announce it has appointed Mark Leggett as its new
General Manager Medical/Surgical. Mark plans to take up
his position, based at Christchurch Hospital, on 19 June
2006.
Mark has a Masters degree in Health Management and is coming to the Canterbury District Health Board from Healthcare New Zealand Ltd where he is the General Manager, Community Services Division, Southern Region.
He says he is looking forward to re-entering the DHBs service, and sees his new role as “a significant challenge.”
With a clinical background in nursing and midwifery, he has worked in health for 30 years – starting as a nurse and working up to senior executive level.
He has considerable management experience across a range of environments including Healthlink South, Taranaki Area Health Board and as Business Manager of The Fertility Centre.
Married with two daughters, he is a keen sportsman.
Until his arrival Mary Gordon will continue in her role as the Acting General Manager Medical/Surgical. Shelly Park, the former manager, left in December to take up a position in Melbourne.
