Heart Foundation champions fight against obesity
As part of its goal to support the fight against obesity, the Heart Foundation Tick is sponsoring The Fat Chance, a new six-part series starting on TV2 tonight (Thursday 29 June).
The Fat Chance, hosted by dietician Nikki Hart tackles childhood obesity by introducing parents to real life adults their children could become, unless they improve their eating and exercise habits.
Nikki is pleased to see the Tick putting its name to the documentary, which addresses one of New Zealand’s most pressing public health issues. “Making better food choices contributes greatly towards the important lifestyle changes that can give our children better futures. The Heart Foundation Tick is a powerful tool for helping New Zealanders make healthier food choices,” she comments.
Ian Mathieson, Heart Foundation Tick Programme manager, adds: “The Tick is leading the way in improving the food supply, by influencing manufacturers to formulate foods that meet Tick standards and eliminating many tonnes of fat and thousands of kilojoules from the foods New Zealanders eat.”
“Combined with identifying healthier choices in more than 50 food categories as part of a balanced diet, the Tick plays an important role in helping more New Zealanders maintain a healthy weight,” he adds.
“Our sponsorship of the show is about championing the messages about the importance of healthier living, which includes more adequate physical activity, as well as healthier eating.”
