World Breastfeeding Week 2006
Media Release for World Breastfeeding Week 2006
A feeding frenzy planned in the country on Saturday August 5th at 11am, will see hundreds of breastfeeding women giving their breast effort to be counted as part of an attempt on the New Zealand record for “the most women breastfeeding simultaneously”.
The current record was set last year during World Breastfeeding Week at 654. Participants had so much fun that Women’s Health Action decided to co-ordinate an attempt on the record again this year.
In over 50 locations nationally from Stuart Island to the Bay of Islands little suckers will be nourished. The central location is Auckland Zoo’s Old Elephant House, where Petra Bagust will be MC.
This record attempt is part of World Breastfeeding Week celebrations; August 1st to August 7th every year. The aim of World Breastfeeding Week this year is to celebrate 25 years of the International Code of the Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes.
