Attacks on Homeopathy unprincipled and ignorant.

The New Zealand Council of Homeopaths (NZCH) expressed concern at Graham Sharpe’s attacks against their profession.

The continued opinions attacking homeopathy by Wellington Anaesthetist Dr. Graham Sharpe and The Dominion’s Bob Brockie have been unprincipled and un-scientific.

Dr Sharpe’s statement “Homeopathy has not met any scientific credible research ever. I know a lot about the claimed science behind homeopathy and in my view the basic claims of homeopathy are fraudulent." highlights his ignorance and bias against Homeopathy and denigrates the many Doctors who are Homeopathic practitioners.

“NZCH registered Homeopaths are highly trained health professionals with a strong philosophy and proven record of success in the use of, natural, effective, non-toxic remedies”. Mrs. Goddard declared.

“Sharpe’s comments show that he has not properly researched the scientific material that is both here and overseas”.

The growing number of NZQA registered Classical Homeopaths in every region of New Zealand is a testament to the safety and faith that the public have in the restorative abilities of homeopathic remedies.

Homeopathy has been in use for over 200 years and is used by the Royal Family. Further, Arnica a homeopathic remedy, has become a household name and is now in common use.

Homeopathy is becoming an increasingly important health modality both in New Zealand and internationally. It is particularly valuable in the treatment of viral illnesses such as glandular fever and post viral conditions such as chronic fatigue. Moreover, we can work alongside conventional medicine in the area of recurrent infections that fail to respond to repeated doses of antibiotics. Many parents who have brought children with recurrent ear nose and throat infections can attest to this.

Prescriptions are individualised to each patient and there are many people who have taken Homeopathic remedies with outstanding results.

The New Zealand Council of Homeopaths (NZCH) is a professional Health sector Organisation, representing its members to Government and Health departments.

The NZCH is working closely with the ANTZPA group and other Government agencies providing, scientific material, along with submissions, and clinical interpretations of homeopathy that have been accepted and made part of the draft Therapeutic Products legislation to date.

“The Therapeutic Products legislation has sweeping implications for the practice of medicine in New Zealand, be it conventional, homeopathic, naturopathic, traditional Chinese herbal and more,” stated Mrs. Goddard.

“The NZCH has been able to submit clear information and guidelines on the role of Homeopathy for the profession and advocate for security to the public on access and availability of remedies”.
