Chair welcomes new Board member to Capital & Coast DHB
The Chair of Capital & Coast DHB, Judith Aitken, has welcomed the Minister of Health’s decision to appoint Peter Douglas to the DHB’s Board.
Peter Douglas, who takes on his new role this week, will fill a vacancy created late last year by the resignation of former Chair and Board member Bob Henare.
Mr Douglas is the CEO of Te Ohu Kaimoana, the trust responsible for advancing the interests of iwi in the development of fisheries, fishing and fisheries-related activities.
He has extensive senior management experience in both the public and private sectors, through his former roles at the Ministry of Social Development, Child and Youth Family, Westpac and the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Peter Douglas has also contributed to and led a number of hapū and Māori organisations, including the Ruapuha Uekaha Hapū Trust.
Judith Aitken says Peter Douglas will bring increased Māori representation to the Board, in addition to the substantial financial and governance experience gained through his previous roles
“His skills will complement and enhance those already on the Board. I welcome him to our Board, and look forward to working alongside Peter to improve health outcomes for the people of this district,” Judith Aitken says.
