Hurricanes And Mental Health Foundation Partnership Launch

MEDIA BRIEF

The Hurricanes Rugby Team and the Mental Health Foundation have joined forces in an exciting new partnership.

Eleven players from the Hurricanes team have chosen the Mental Health Foundation as the charity of their choice to support until December 2008.

With 47 percent of the population likely to experience a mental illness at some point in their lives, the Hurricanes are keen to work with the Foundation to raise awareness of mental health issues, and to help raise funds to support its work.

The partnership will be launched on 24 April 2007 at 1:30pm. This will take place at Rugby League Park, Newtown, Wellington.

Between 1:30 and 2pm there is an opportunity for media to attend the launch. This launch will be attended by the players who are supporting the Mental Health Foundation as their chosen charity.

The Hurricanes coach - Colin Cooper and the Chair of the Board for the Mental Health Foundation - Materoa Mar, will be in attendance and will be available to provide comment.

A photo shoot with the players and members of the Mental Health Foundation will also take place between 1:30pm and 2pm. This will provide an opportunity for media to get photos to accompany the story.
