Night of Glamour
to Benefit Breast Cancer
The Breast Cancer Research Trust Fire & Ice Ball has become the black tie highlight of the social calendar. Now in its fifth year, the 2007 event promises to be an unforgettable night of glamour for attendees.
Petra Bagust and Shane Cortese will MC the event to be held at the Langham Hotel on Friday 15th June. Entertainment will be provided by Viva La Diva, the Candy Lane Dancers and a special mystery guest being flown in from Las Vegas.
Alison Taylor, Chairperson of The Breast Cancer Research Trust, expects this year’s event will be even more successful than previous years.
“Last year’s event succeeded in raising a record sum of more than $131,000. We hope that this year’s ball, again sponsored by Revlon, will be another fabulous evening that raises even more funds to assist our goal of finding a cure for breast cancer.
“Breast cancer claims the lives of more than 600 New Zealand women every year, and statistics reveal that one in eight New Zealand women develops breast cancer. We consider this unacceptable and are determined to find a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime,” says Ms Taylor.
In recognition of the Ball’s premier style status, this year the Trust is introducing the inaugural Fire & Ice Ball fashion competition for guests with superb prizes for each of the categories: most elegant woman; most stylish man; and most glamorous couple.
The awards, which are expected to be hotly contested by all guests, will be judged by a team of discerning judges led by the Trust’s Patron Trelise Cooper.
A further highlight of the ball is the charity auction, allowing guests to bid for a long list of fabulous items ranging from a new 4 door Peugeot 207 XSP provided by Continental Car Services to items donated by Halle Berry; a family adventure holiday in Queenstown; a deluxe suite at The Farm; Cape Kidnappers - the new lodge about to open in November; lingerie personally selected by Elle Macpherson; and a Harley Davison tour for four.
The Breast Cancer Research Trust is the only breast cancer charity in Australasia specifically dedicated to research and finding a cure for breast cancer. All funds raised from the ball will be used to finance medical research towards identifying how to reduce the death rate from breast cancer in New Zealand and ultimately how to find a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime.
