Keeping children well
Children’s day, Te
Rā O Te Tamariki, will be celebrated throughout New Zealand
on March 2nd – this year highlighting the magic of new
experiences. Children’s Day is a fantastic opportunity to
spend some time with your children and take part in many of
the fun activities happening around the country.
Children’s Day kicks off the annual New Zealand Well Child week (3rd – 9th March) which is held to help increase awareness of Well Child / Tamariki Ora issues – also focusing on new experiences this year. The Well Child concept is about keeping all children under the age of 5 well and healthy, as well as growing and developing them to their fullest potential.
“Every day brings a new experience to a growing child and becoming a parent itself is a new, exciting, rewarding and sometimes challenging experience”, says Claire Rumble, Plunket‘s National Parenting Education Advisor.
“This is the only day we, as a nation, recognise the importance of children and parenting”.
So during Well Child week celebrate your child and teach them something new, giving time to your child costs nothing, yet the ways in which they benefit from this gift is priceless. Do you remember the first time you rode a bike?
