Hyundai revs up support for children with cancer

Hyundai Motors NZ, platinum sponsor of Child Cancer NZ, is ramping up support for kids with cancer and challenging other Kiwis to do the same. Hyundai Motors NZ, one of New Zealand's fastest growing vehicle brands, has pledged to support the charity's key fundraising initiatives, including the Child Cancer Foundation Annual Appeal which takes place between 10 and 16 March.

"We're delighted and proud to be helping out the Child Cancer Foundation and we are hopeful that Hyundai can help to make Appeal Week 2008 the most successful to date. Many of our staff members throughout our dealer network will be out on the streets collecting funds during the week and encouraging others to help support the charity in its valuable work" exclaimed executive director, Philip Eustace, Hyundai Motors NZ.

As well as assisting with Appeal Week costs, Hyundai Motors NZ is auctioning off the Hyundai 'Wheels of Courage' Santa Fe vehicle and other items with all proceeds going towards helping children and their families affected by childhood cancer.

The Hyundai 'Wheels of Courage' initiative began in Auckland in 2007, and since then, the Santa Fe vehicle has road-tripped its way around the North and South Island collecting handprints of courageous kids with cancer. During this time, more than 100 children have made their mark on the vehicle, including 5 year old Petra Hancock, the face of the Foundation's 2008 Appeal.

Child Cancer Foundation, Marketing Manager, Olivia Blaylock says, "We cannot thank Hyundai enough for coming on-board and so willingly helping us out. We believe, with their support, we can make 2008 our best fundraising year-to-date and continue to help make the lives of families who are facing childhood cancer that little bit easier."
