AUCKLAND celebrates the end of the mo
The moustache went back out in style last night at the Movember Gala Parté in Auckland.
More than 12,600 Kiwis joined 171, 252 Movember participants worldwide this year. The event that has raised over NZD $600,000 for The Cancer Society and the Mental Health Foundation saw hundreds of Aucklanders pack in to Eden Park in the hopes of winning one of seven costumed categories.
Official Judge Jim Slattery of the Movember Foundation says it’s much more than a great night out; it’s a chance to reward registered participants known as Mo Bros for their month-long effort, and to recognise each Mo Bro’s contribution to the cause.
“During Movember the moustache is the men’s health ribbon, and it’s there all month long. It’s not easy to grow a great mo but it’s worth it to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer and men’s depression. The Gala Parté is the perfect opportunity to come together and recognise that effort.”
