Plunketline Fully Funded at Last

Media Release:

Plunketline Fully Funded at Last

The New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) is delighted that the government has announced that it will fully fund Plunketline, a service provided as part of the Royal New Zealand Plunket Society.

Plunketline will now be available 24 hours a day 7 days a week to provide advice and information for parents and caregivers. “Plunket is a well respected and well known organisation which has more than 100 years experience. The nurses who provide this service are extremely skilled and knowledgeable,” said NZNO CEO Geoff Annals

“The suite of services which Plunket provides is absolutely essential in pro-actively ensuring the health of our young people. It is vital that Plunket is fully funded so that it can ensure all of its services can be maintained and increased to meet the community’s needs,”

“Increases in the public provision of health services are essential. We hope that this action from the government is a positive signal of further investments in health as there are many areas, including in primary heath, which are in desperate need of additional funding,”  Annals said
