Demonstration Sites Welcomed
The New Zealand Nurses Organisation (NZNO) is welcoming the announcement from the Safe Staffing Healthy Workplaces Unit of the confirmed district health board (DHB) demonstration sites. These sites will lead the way in achieving safe staffing and healthy workplaces.
Bay of Plenty, Counties Manukau and West Coast DHBs have been selected as the sites to provide a whole systems approach to progress the recommendations as outlined in the Safe Staffing Healthy Workplaces Committee of Inquiry Report and safety on frontline service delivery.
According to NZNO industrial adviser Glenda Alexander, “The work of the demonstration sites has the real potential to improve the quality of care delivered and received throughout our public hospitals,”
“The demonstration sites will be using best practice and leading edge techniques to support excellence and safety in frontline service delivery. Nurses other health professionals are extremely positive and hopeful this work will be closely followed by all other DHBs,” Alexander said.
