N.Z. Grey Power Asks Why?
Grey Power News Release 13th July 2009
N.Z. GREY POWER ASKS WHY ???
Grey Power wishes to remind the NZ Government that NZ is NZ and this country has no need to emulate Australian Policies.
When will Common Sense prevail ?.
Market Research Surveys have stated that 87 per cent of the NZ Community do not want the mandatory fortification of bread with folic acid.
Food and Safety Minister Kate Wilkinson is reported as saying she “is not a fan” of the folic acid requirement.
Many overseas countries have decided that there is a need for more study and factual information before committing to this legislation.
Concern is being expressed over relationships to several types of cancer, including bowel and breast, problems for people being treated for leukemia and arthritis and the possibility of accelerating brain decline in some elderly people.
We are being told by the Institute of Food Research that it could take 20 years before the effects become known
NZ Grey Power therefore is asking the Government to acknowledge that there are still too many issues remaining unidentified and to delay supporting this venture until benefit certainty can be established with definite and factual clarification.
