RNZCGP Welcomes IPAC

RNZCGP Welcomes IPAC

The Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners today welcomes IPAC into the Wellington Club Building at 88 The Terrace. IPAC (Independent Practitioners Association Council) will sub-lease space from the College.

“Many College members belong to IPAC organisations and we welcome the opportunity to work closer together,” College President Dr Harry Pert says. ”We’ve been developing our relationship recently, and projects such as QI4GP allow us to demonstrate our complementary and mutually supportive roles in the services we provide to general practice."

IPAC Executive Chair Dr Bev O’Keefe says. “IPAC is pleased to be working in closer proximity to the College, as it will strengthen our collective ability to provide effective services to general practice teams.”

Drs Pert and O’Keefe agree that “The College is responsible for setting national standards while networks, whether currently IPAC aligned or not, are delivering national and local programmes. IPAC through its political advocacy, national contracting, and other network and practice support functions will complement the College’s pursuit of clinical excellence.”

Over time the College and IPAC will explore further opportunities to use resources more efficiently and effectively, at local and national level. “We look forward to extending services, joining with other GPs, practices, and their organisations, to provide better health services to our communities and increased value to general practice throughout NZ.”
