New Hutt Valley DHB Chief Executive Appointment
New Hutt Valley DHB Chief Executive Appointment
Welcomed
“The appointment of Graeme
Dyer as the new chief executive at Hutt Valley District
Health Board is welcomed,” said Mr Ian Powell, Executive
Director of the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists,
today.
“We have been involved with Mr Dyer in his previous second tier positions as Chief Operating Officer at the Bay of Plenty and Waitemata DHBs and have found him responsive to enhancing the engagement of senior doctors in decision-making.”
“Mr Dyer was one of the first senior managers to grasp the importance of senior doctors having sufficient time to participate in non-clinical activities, such as professional development and teaching, which are critical for ongoing quality improvement in standards of patient care.”
“We would expect him to fit in well at Hutt Valley because it is a DHB that has made positive strides in enhancing clinical leadership. It is significant that there was a high degree of senior doctor involvement in the appointment process for this position.”
“We congratulate Hutt Valley DHB for appointing someone who genuinely believes in health professional engagement and look forward to working collaboratively with him,” concluded Mr Powell.
