Health Minister to Open 11th Biennial Conference
The New Zealand College of Midwives Biennial National Conference will be opened by the Minister of Health, Hon. Tony Ryall on the morning of Friday 3 September.
The NZCOM Bay of Plenty / Tairawhiti region is hosting the conference which will be attended by around 750 Midwives, women, childbirth educators, midwifery educators and allied health professionals from all from around New Zealand.
The International keynote speaker is the President of the International Confederation of Midwives, Bridget Lynch, who will be speaking between 10.30 and 11.30 on Friday morning.
NZ College of Midwives CEO, Karen Guilliland, says,
“This large gathering of key people in the maternity sector from around New Zealand and the world, is significant. We look forward to showcasing the achievements of New Zealand midwifery to conference delegates.”
“The international contribution to the conference also provides us with an opportunity to experience overseas success and knowledge to further enhance midwifery and maternity services for our women and babies,” Karen Guilliland says.
