Pacific Students to become Healthcare Heroes

Pacific Students across Auckland set to become Healthcare Heroes

Up to 200 hundred Year 13 Pacific Students will attend a two day Healthcare Heroes Conference organised by the Pasifika Medical Association on the 27th – 28th September, in Manukau.

Delegates of this conference are seventh formers taking Science and come from 21 Auckland based High Schools.

The two day conference is about strengthening Health Science and building awareness on the difference fields you can major in when studying Health. There will be guest speakers from each of the major workforce fields (such as Medicine, Nursing, Dietician, Physiotherapy, Oral Health etc).

Students will also get certified in First Aid and CPR and will go on lab tours after taking part in workshops.

Healthcare Heroes is a mentoring programme that encourages and aims to strengthen students’ abilities in Science.

“We’re looking forward to taking these students on lab tours, so that they can get a taste of the many exciting and fulfilling careers in health” says the PMA CEO, Debbie Sorensen.
