From Giving to Receiving

Lotto's Kyllee King -Turner knows the thrill of giving away money as Lotto's regular host. But now it's her turn to accept a windfall!

Staff at Unilever have raised an incredible $2200, to purchase toys for the Paediatric Oncology Ward at Wellington Hospital where Kylee's 3 year old daughter Cleo is a patient.

"This is just unbelievable" says Kyllee. 'I am absolutely blown away to be honest. We set out to raise $5000 to replenish the supply of toys which we knew was a massive ask, but the team at Unilever have been amazing!"

Kyllee's daughter Cleo was diagnosed with Leukaemia in March of this year. "We have spent so much time at the children's oncology ward for Cleo's treatment and it became evident really quickly that toys are so essential to the children's recovery process. But with the lack of funding the toy and art supply is pretty lacking to say the least and the incredible team there just don't have a lot to work with."

Erin Trybula from Unilever says they heard about the fundraising drive on the Breeze and says the staff jumped at the chance to help out. "We all worked together on a massive fundraising effort and when we heard Kyllee on the radio talking about these brave kids and the lack of toys we just knew the money had to go there. It feels so awesome to give this money and it's been a fantastic way of building our team spirit."

Toyworld are supporting the toy drive too by pledging to match the donations dollar for dollar. Phillip Bramley from Toyworld says the donations have been coming in thick and fast. " There’s nothing more heart wrenching than to see a child unwell and if we can do something to lift it a little, to take their mind of why they’re actually in hospital then it’s wonderful to be part off that"
