Go Red On The Red Carpet

Media Release February 2011

Go Red On The Red Carpet

Heart disease is the single biggest cause of death in New Zealand women. Though it claims four times as many lives as breast cancer, most women do not know they are at risk, and many are not as vigilant about their heart health as they may be about other aspects of their wellbeing. The good news is that heart disease is largely preventable.

This month, Botany Town Centre is helping to raise awareness about the risk of heart disease in Kiwi women, while supporting the Heart Foundation. On Monday 21 February at 6.45pm, the centre will host a charity preview screening to celebrate the release of the new comedy Tamara Drewe. All ticket proceeds will be donated to the Heart Foundation in support of its Go Red for Women campaign, which aims to boost awareness of heart disease in women and raise funds for research to improve the heart health of women.

“It’s a pleasure to be supporting the Heart Foundation and Go Red for Women,” says Botany Town Centre Senior Marketing Manager Desiree Clark. “It’s an amazing programme that empowers women to take action, care for their heart and help reduce their risk. It is important that women take time to look after their own health and wellbeing and with this event we hope to encourage women to take that step of having a heart health check.”

Those attending the red carpet event are encouraged to don their glad-rags and support the Heart Foundation by flaunting a splash of red. All guests will receive a goody bag on arrival.

Tamara Drewe is a joyful but occasionally dark comedy about a young newspaper journalist torn between two lovers. Tamara Drewe's childhood home is being sold and her return to the rural Dorset village where she grew up causes something of a stir. Having left an awkward teenager she returns a smouldering femme fatale, kicking up a storm of envy, lust and gossip wherever she goes. Tamara (Gemma Arterton) is the ultimate modern girl, but her story of love and confusion is timeless.
