Hospi Delivers Baby Clothes To Neonatal Unit

HOSPI, official mascot of Wellington Hospitals & Health Foundation today made a special delivery to Wellington Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Wellington Hospitals & Health Foundation, through donations from the community, has been able to provide another supply of 100 Stretch n Grow suits for Wellington’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Wellington’s Neonatal Unit has around 30,000 bed changes every year for the 1,000 babies that come from Hawkes Bay to Taranaki and south to Nelson/Marlborough.

“This is a great help” said Rosemary Escott, Nurse Manager of the Neonatal Unit.

Wellington Hospitals & Health Foundation provides medical equipment and comfort items to support families and medical staff in Wellington’s public hospitals. The Foundation’s Hospital Volunteer Service also provides over 7,000 knit and quilt items for Wellington Children’s Hospital every year.

“We get a real buzz out of helping the wee ones in NICU” said Maria Quigley, spokeswoman for Wellington Hospitals & Health Foundation. “They are our future and it’s important to give them the best start possible”.

Wellington Children’s Hospital marks its 99th year on 13 March 2011. Redevelopment funds are needed to improve the current hospital environment and provide additional medical equipment.
