NZMA makes donation to assist Christchurch Earthquake relief
The New Zealand Medical Association (NZMA)
Board met yesterday and received an updated briefing on the
effects of the Christchurch earthquake. Following this, the
NZMA has today announced that it will make a contribution of
$20,000 towards the Mayoral Relief Fund for the Christchurch
earthquake.
"The NZMA joins with all New Zealanders in supporting our fellow Cantabrians, and particularly doctors and other health professionals working in the region," said NZMA Chair Dr Peter Foley.
"We are heartened to see the huge level of response from health professionals throughout the country who have offered their assistance to treat the injured. The collaboration of the primary and secondary health care sectors that are working so closely and effectively together has been exemplary."
The NZMA will also explore other avenues of assistance and support, in addition to its donation.
