2011 Water Safety Awards to Celebrate Success

Entries are being sought for the New Zealand Water Safety Awards 2011.

First introduced in 2009 to recognise excellence, achievement and innovation in water safety, the awards offer an opportunity for organisations and individuals involved in water safety to showcase their successes. Water Safety New Zealand General Manager, Matt Claridge explains: “The awards support the New Zealand Water Safety Framework and help us achieve this by identifying and highlighting initiatives working well.

“Awards will be given in three categories: Education, Awareness and Prevention, we also have an Outstanding Contribution Award which will be presented to an individual who has made a positive difference in the water safety sector.”

Mr Claridge says Water Safety New Zealand is looking forward to receiving entries from every region, and no project is too big or too small to be considered.

“Whether it’s a grassroots programme or national policy, we want to hear about it,” he says.

Entry forms and the Awards Terms of Reference document can be found on www.watersafety.org.nz.

Nominations close Friday October 14th. Award winners will be announced at the New Zealand Water Safety Conference 2011 Gala Dinner on Thursday 24th November 2011 in Wellington.

The conference, ‘Water: Our Fatal Attraction’, offers an impressive line-up of international experts and local leaders speaking about issues, research, trends and challenges facing the water safety industry.

The two-day conference will be held on 24th and 25th November 2011 at Te Papa, in Wellington. For more information and to register for the conference visit www.watersafety2011.org.nz.
