PHARMAC Board strengthens relationship with DHBs
Getting closer to district health boards, on whose behalf PHARMAC aims to spend $777 million this year, took on a new meaning today.
For the first time the PHARMAC Board’s monthly meeting was held outside Wellington. Meeting on 30 September at the Auckland District Health Board’s Auckland City Hospital, PHARMAC Board members and staff took the opportunity to engage with DHB clinicians and managers and to discuss matters of mutual interest.
One of the PHARMAC Board’s priorities is to work effectively with the range of people and organisations that make up the health sector in New Zealand. In an effort to connect with district health boards (DHBs) the PHARMAC Board is holding several of its monthly meetings at venues close to district health boards.
The Auckland meeting followed a similar meeting at Capital and Coast DHB on 1 August. The PHARMAC Board meets 11 times a year to consider the provision of subsidies for community and cancer pharmaceuticals.
