Hospice West Auckland’s Remembrance Trees

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Christmas Stars
Hospice West Auckland’s Remembrance Trees:
Westies Helping Westies

December 3 - 25
West Auckland

About Christmas Stars
Every year Hospice West Auckland’s army of dedicated volunteers set up camp at shopping centres and malls throughout Waitakere. The volunteers are equipped with Christmas trees and thousands of gold and silver stars. When shoppers make a donation to Hospice West Auckland they are given a star and encouraged to write a message to a loved one on the back. The star is then hung on the tree. This is a lovely way to remember an absent loved one at Christmas, and a great way to support Hospice West Auckland.
This year Christmas Stars will be launched at Light Up Hospice, a fun and free family event held at Hospice House (52 Beach Road, Te Atatu) from 7.30 – 9.30pm on Saturday December 3.

Prize
Thanks to South Pacific Pictures we are also able to offer a fantastic prize to the people who donate! One lucky Shortland Street fan will win a tour of the Shortland Street set, followed by a private morning or afternoon tea with actress Virginie le Brun who plays Gabrielle on the show!

About Hospice West Auckland
Hospice West Auckland is a registered charitable trust dedicated to improving the quality of life for West Aucklanders with life-threatening conditions. We provide comfort and dignity at end of life. We offer a unique blend of medical and holistic (inclusive) care. Our assistance is practical, physical, emotional and spiritual, and we extend our services to families/whanau and carers. We offer support both at Hospice House and in the home, and we can provide inpatient care where needed. We are also here to help those who are grieving for their loved ones.

Hospice West Auckland is partially funded by the Waitemata District Health Board, with the balance of operating revenue coming from donations, trusts and grants, fundraising events, bequests and the Hospice Shops. Although our services are provided free of charge, we need to fundraise nearly $2 million annually to continue our important work. If you would like more information about Hospice West Auckland and the services we provide, please call us on (09) 834 9750 or visit www.hwa.org.nz.
