Check Credentials of Health practitioners

The New Zealand Society of Naturopaths Urge the Public to Check Credentials of Health practitioners and only Visit Registered Naturopaths

3rd September 2012

In light of recent public concerns regarding complementary and alternative health practitioners, the NZ Society of Naturopaths(NZSN) urges the public to check the credentials of health practitioners when seeking advice and only visit Registered Naturopaths.

All naturopaths registered with the NZSN have met strict criteria and educational standards to become members. In addition all NZSN Registered Naturopaths have to continue professional development and training to maintain registration.

NZSN Registered Naturopaths are trained to recognize circumstances where a referral to another health care practitioner would be advantageous to the client for the assessment of, or treatment of health complaints.

The NZSN works with the Health and Disabilities Commission to protect the public from people posing as health practitioners who have insufficient training and standards to advise on methods or treatment to improve health.

The NZ Society of Naturopaths provides the public with a resource of qualified and professional members. And promote Registered Naturopaths, as valuable partners in the health care system.

A list and contact details of NZSN Registered Naturopaths and more information about Naturopathy may be found at www.naturopath.org.nz.

End.
