Easter Eggs and Exercise at Easter

Media Release

28 March 2013

Easter Eggs and Exercise at Easter

Arthritis New Zealand Chief Executive Sandra Kirby today asked New Zealanders to enjoy their chocolate, but remember to exercise this Easter.

“Appropriate exercise has been proven to be helpful for people living with arthritis,” said Ms Kirby. “And given obesity is linked with osteoarthritis, there is every reason to temper the celebration with exercise. Physical activity is essential to maintaining resilient strong muscles," she concluded. ”So enjoy the treats as you walk.”

Arthritis New Zealand is a national organisation that raises awareness of the more than 140 forms of arthritis, advocates for those living with arthritis, funds research, and provides support through information and advice. There are more than 530,000 New Zealanders living with arthritis.

Arthritis New Zealand supports land based and water based exercise programmes throughout New Zealand.
