The Gen Mo ‘Wolf Pack’ Grow for their Bros
Stubble is forming across the nation as the 2013 Generation Mo ambassadors or the ‘Wolf Pack’ begins their fourth day in the month of moustachery today.
These committed Mo Bros will see ‘tashes take over the country this Movember to help increase awareness about men’s health and raise crucial funds for the Cancer Society and Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.
Movember country manager Rob Dunne says he is stoked to have some of the nation’s leading men growing Mos in support of the cause this year.
“It is amazing to have such an inspiring group of Ambassadors on board this year, their profiles really help get Movember out there and a huge contributor to the success of the campaign,” he says.
Leading the wolf pack this year are Josh Kronfeld and Martin Tasker.
Kronfeld is a television presenter, physiotherapist and stay-at-home Dad to two small children. A former All Black who gained 54 test caps, Kronfeld is very happy to be supporting Movember.
“I’m getting involved with Movember to support mental health. I’ve seen so many men I know owning up to mental health struggles. I know it can make life absolute hell and lead to such desperation. I’m not sure what the answer is but I’m keen to do whatever I can to help,” he says.
Martin Tasker is a ONE News yachting correspondent and is an icon in New Zealand sports media. Tasker will be shaving off his trademark moustache tomorrow for only the second time in his adult life.
“I’m supporting Movember because one of my best mates was detected as having prostate cancer 15 years ago and he’s a survivor. It illustrates the power of early detection. I’m in the demographic now and the more prostate cancer is talked about the more men realise they need to act to reduce the risk,” says Tasker.
Actor Will Hall, a Movember regular, will again be fighting the good fight, as will presenter and personalities Jo Holley and Melodie Robinson as an enthusiastic Mo Sista.
For the first time this year jewellery designer Nick Klarwill of Nick Von K and cocktail genius Barney Toy will be shaving for the last time tomorrow morning, to grow a Mo and create conversations throughout their respective communities for the month of Movember about men’s health.
Jay Reeve, ZM Drive presenter, is on board for another year, spreading the word about his hairy upper lip as far and wide as he can across the nation.
Rugby commentator and Cancer Society representative John Macbeth is supporting the cause so men everywhere can lead lives with much improved quality of life through the research and funds raised by Movember.
Top chefs from around New Zealand will proudly sport moustaches in their kitchens (and at all other times) to encourage their team members and staff, as well as regular customers and families, to register and support Movember. In the chef pack are: Nick Honeyman of The Commons and Everybody’s Izakaya, Hayden McMillan of San Fransisco’s Waiheke Island Yacht Club, Mark Southon from The Food Store, Shaun Clouston from Logan Brown Restaurant and Bar, Alex Strobach from O’Connell St Bistro, Ben Bayly from The Grove and Baduzzi, Mikey Newlands from Bracu Restaurant, and Paul Ansell from Martin Bosley’s Yacht Club Restaurant.
And finally, joining the crusade from the younger generation are George FM DJs and television presenters Connor Nestor, 23, and Tim Lambourne, 24, who will be attempting to grow their first Mos ever, this year, encouraging young guys to get on board and start considering their health from a younger age.
Participation is integral for Movember to successfully continue its journey and this is where we hope you will join in.
