ASMS Acknowledges Chief Executive's Contribution
The
Association of Salaried Medical Specialists (ASMS) has
acknowledged the contribution of the country’s
longest-serving district health board chief executive, who
has decided to step down from his leadership
role.
MidCentral DHB Chief Executive Murray Georgel announced today that he is resigning giving three months’ notice although he is available to work up until the end of February.
“Murray Georgel has made a very good contribution to the provision of health services in his region and we wish him well,” says ASMS Executive Director Ian Powell.
“Although an accountant by profession, he has always been to see beyond the balance sheet. We’ve enjoyed a good working relationship with him and even when we did disagree, we always found him professional and respectful.
“He had an intelligent salt-of-the-earth style that endeared him to senior medical staff and to us, and as the longest-serving chief executive in a DHB, his knowledge and experience will be missed.
“We wish him well for the future and hope he won’t be completely lost to the health sector. We also look forward to working with his successor who will inherit some solid foundations to build on.”
