SI Video Showcases Canterbury DHBs Patient Safety Success

A new video has been released showcasing some of the different ways in which Canterbury DHB and other South Island DHBs are continuing to improve patient safety through their support of the ‘Open for Better Care’ Campaign.

The video http://vimeo.com/vworks/review/110835941/7d54456f2d has been produced by the Health Quality and Safety Commission for South Island DHBs as part of Patient Safety Week.

Campaigns and projects from across the South are featured in the video, including:

• Canterbury DHB’s Primary Care based Falls Prevention Strategy for primary care and “Roving Grannies” campaign.

Mary Gordon, Chair of the South Island Alliance’s Quality and Safety Group says the video is a fun way of bringing to life the serious commitment that DHBs have made to improving patient safety and to supporting the ‘Open’ campaign,

“The video is a great showcase for the many excellent projects that have been introduced since the Open for Better Care campaign kicked off in May 2013,” Mary says.

“All SI DHBS have signed the Open campaign pledge, have held booths to promote the campaign to staff and have introduced projects designed to improve patient safety outcomes in their districts.

“We hope that this video will help staff to acknowledge the great work underway, help spread ideas and keep on promoting better patient safety outcomes across the South.”
