Motorbike Accident near Featherston and Medical Emergency in Raetihi

The Palmerston North based Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a property near Featherston last night at around 8:00 pm after a teenage boy was injured in a motorcycle accident. He suffered leg injuries after he came off a farmbike in which he was a passenger. He was stabilised by Wellington Free and St John Ambulance staff before he was airlifted to Wellington. The helicopter was dispatched due to the inaccessible location of the accident.

Early this morning at around 4:30 am the helicopter was called to Raetihi for a woman in her 60's with a medical emergency. She was stabilised by St John paramedics and then airlifted to Wanganui Hospital. The helicopter was dispatched to to the serious nature of the emergency and the distance to hospital.
