MEDIA RELEASE: It’s No April Fool: The St John Annual Appeal Is Coming
1 April 2015
Media are invited to several fantastic St John events next week, when the community health organisation hits the streets for its Annual Appeal (6-12 April).
This year St John hopes to raise $2.4 million nationally. It will use this to pay for 12 fully equipped ambulances for New Zealand communities.
There are a number of exciting activities happening around Christchurch next week – media are warmly invited to come along, get some images for broadcast, or some audio/video for interviews.
Easter Monday (6 April)
We’re delving into the vehicular past of St John with our ‘Ambulances through the ages’ display, this coming Easter Monday (6 April) at the Transitional (Cardboard) Cathedral (Hereford St, Latimer Square).
Media are invited to come down between 10.00am and 2.00pm on that day to see two restored St John vintage ambulances – one from the 1940s, one from the 1970s, on-site inside the Cathedral. St John people will be on-site and available for media interviews. Imagery from this display would be particularly good for television voice-over stories.
We will also have a display of the history of St John Ambulances from our first days 130 years ago in Christchurch.
Details: Transitional Cathedral, 10.00am-2.00pm, vintage St John ambulances on site.
Friday 10 April
Look out for the St John Ambulance Roadshow, heading through the city to you!
From 10.00am, the St John vintage ambulances will be leading a mini ‘convoy’ of St John response vehicles to a number of locations in Christchurch.
Media are invited to get photos and video of this awesome display. St John personnel will again be present for media interviews. Check out the schedule below to see where we will be.
