Southern DHB Celebrating Enrolled
Nurses Day today
Today is National Enrolled Nurses’
Day and to celebrate the day this year the Southern Region
Enrolled Nurse Section, one of 11 Regional Sections in New
Zealand, presented a framed Enrolled Nurse pledge form to
the Southern District Health Board for their continued
support of the role that enrolled nurses have within the
Southern District Health Board.
Description: Enrolled
nurses day 2015 008
Enrolled nurse, Robyn Hewlett who
presented the pledge said that, “the presentation was a
great way of highlighting the work of enrolled nurses and to
thank Southern DHB for their support.”
This pledge was originally given to enrolled nurses when they graduated. The Southern Region Enrolled Nurse Section will be giving this pledge form to each new graduate in each tertiary institute training educating enrolled nurses in the Southern Region.
National Enrolled Nurses’ Day was launched in 2004 at the National Enrolled Nurse Conference in Tauranga, and was first celebrated on June 2004 of that year. In 2010, the Scope of Practice for the Enrolled Nurse was broadened and the Southern DHB supported staff through a transition into the new enrolled nurse scope of practice, in producing a portfolio, via the Professional Development and Recognition Programme.
Leanne Samuel, Executive Director of Nursing and Midwifery says Southern DHB is “delighted to be seeing increasing numbers of newly qualified enrolled nurses joining our workforce. We thank all enrolled nurses for their significant contribution to improving health outcomes for our community and wish them a rewarding and satisfying Enrolled Nurses day.”
