Lunch with the Business Belles
Lunch with the Business Belles
Hawke’s Bay business women will be joining forces in November to support a cause close to every mother’s heart – the Child Cancer Foundation.
Tickets are now on sale for the inaugural “Business Belles’ Charity Lunch and Auction” which will take place on Friday, 27 November in the beautiful grounds of Ormlie Lodge from 12pm.
Napier’s business, Black & White Accounting started Business Belles 4 years ago as a forum for Hawke’s Bay women to network on a regular basis.
Karrie Stephens, from Black & White Mortgages and Insurance and organiser of the Business Belles says the group gives Hawke’s Bay business women the opportunity to promote their own business and also network with other like-minded people.
“Business Belles has been a raging success with over 40 women involved from a range of Hawke’s Bay organisations,” says Karrie.
This year the group decided to host the charity lunch and auction event, building on a ‘snap’ auction held last year which raised $5,000 for the Child Cancer Foundation.
Karrie says with added enthusiasm, a great working committee and a lot of support from the local community and businesses the group decided to make the lunch an annual event, with a fundraising goal of $20,000.
“We have some amazing auction items on offer including a weekend package in Rotorua, pamper items, Champagne High Tea for eight and a gorgeous 9ct Yellow Gold Diamond Ring donated by Heards Jewellers in Hastings,” she says.
Child Cancer Foundation Hawke’s Bay Business Development Manager Vicky Rope says as a charity, the Child Cancer Foundation is unique as it supports the entire family – the child, parents/caregivers and siblings – every step of the way throughout such a challenging time.
“We are so grateful to the Business Belles for supporting the Foundation and very excited to be part of such an amazing event,” she says.
The Child Cancer Foundation aims to reduce the impact of cancer by offering services that ensure children and their families are supported, informed and well cared for at every stage of their cancer journey. At any given time the organisation is supporting more than 500 families in hospital, at home and in the community.
Vicky says as a stand-alone charity that receives no direct funding from the government, the Child Cancer Foundation relies on the generosity of New Zealanders to help it deliver its support to families when they need it most.
A limited number of tickets for the Business Belles Charity Lunch and Auction are available for $45 by contacting Vicky Rope on vrope@
