New Zealand’s biggest names mint their faces for Movember
Today, Movember unveils a unique initiative featuring some of New Zealand’s most influential faces, minted on a limited edition one dollar coin – the Mo Dollar.
A series of Mo Dollar coins have been crafted to bear the faces of well-known Kiwis, including Steven Adams, Richie McCaw, Brodie Retallick, Dan Carter, Jerome Kaino, Dick Frizzell, Shaun Johnson, Rachel Hunter, and Joseph Parker, who are doing their bit to help change the face of men’s health in New Zealand.
New Zealanders are being called upon to visit www.modollar.nz to view the coins and text to donate towards their favourite Mo Dollar. Every text is a chance to win one of the rare collector’s items and unique money can’t buy prize or experience. Each donation raises the coin’s value and funds programmes to help men in this country live happier, healthier and longer lives.
Heavyweight boxer Joseph Parker didn’t hesitate to put his name to the coin, and Parker’s coin recipient will not only be the proud owner of the dollar, but also win ringside tickets to Fight for Life on December the 6th.
“I’m truly humbled to be a part of this campaign. Hopefully my fans can rally behind my coin and I’ll see the winner ringside in December at Fight For Life,” Parker says.
The concept, a collaboration between creative agency Us&Co and Movember for the charity’s 10th anniversary, saw money from Movember’s small marketing budget melted down, mixed with silver, plated and with gold. These coins are then meticulously crafted to bear the face of our well-known kiwis and turned into a series of one-off collectors coins.
“It’s fantastic to add an element to Movember that is accessible to every New Zealander,” says Movember Country Manager Robert Dunne. “It’s really humbling to have such a fantastic group of well-known New Zealanders on board to help raise crucial funds and awareness for men’s health in the country. Even small amounts of money can make a huge difference.”
James Polhill, Founder of Us&Co, was approached by Movember to help create a new, innovative element to the Movember campaign and was immediately motivated by the challenge of trying of create a fundraising campaign with effectively no budget. “We were instantly drawn to the cause. We thought if four guys from Melbourne can spark a global health movement, surely a group of Kiwi guys could find creative new ways to get people to dip into their ever-tightening wallets.”
The Mo Dollar campaign runs until the end of November. New Zealanders can simply text the influential person’s name to 2448 to donate $3 to Movember and go in the draw for a chance to win the one-off coin and a prize or experience. For more information visit www.modollar.nz
