Guild and Grey Power sign Memorandum of Understanding
The Pharmacy Guild of New Zealand (the
Guild) and Grey Power New Zealand Federation Inc. (Grey
Power) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in April
2016 to facilitate both parties to work closely together in
pursuit of common interests.
Guild President, Ken Orr says “Guild and Grey Power representatives met for the first time last year to discuss mutual issues including inequalities between elderly in rest homes and those in their own homes, inequalities due to ‘postcode health’, and issues with community pharmacy deregulation. Since then representatives from both organisations met again in March to discuss the difficulties older people experience with medicine packaging.
“Both organisations acknowledged that an ongoing relationship would be of benefit and that a MoU will allow us to work closely together in pursuit of common interests for the benefit of our members, patients, and communities.
“The MoU will encourage both organisations to keep a close watch on any potential changes that may impact the members of one or both organisations. It will also allow the Guild and Grey Power to freely share resources, offer assistance in areas of strength, and seek assistance in areas of weakness.
“The MoU sets out key principles for agreement and an implementation process to foster collaboration and a good understanding of the issues each organisation faces.
“With so much on the agenda for
the community pharmacy sector this year, we welcome and look
forward to working alongside Grey Power in a collaborative
approach towards improving the health, wellbeing, and
quality of life of our patients and communities.”
