Southern DHB deputy commissioner ends term

Southern DHB Deputy Commissioner Dr Angela Pitchford has stepped down from her role.

Commissioner Kathy Grant was appointed in June 2015, with her term initially intended for a 15 month period. She appointed three deputies, including Christchurch-based emergency medicine specialist Angela Pitchford to support her.

With the Commissioner term extended until 2019, Dr Angela Pitchford advised she was unable to commit to this longer period. Her term finished on 2 September.

In announcing Dr Pitchford’s resignation, Kathy Grant acknowledged her significant contribution to the Commissioner team and Southern DHB. “Angela’s experience across many facets of the health sector, as a clinician and in her role as the National Director of Emergency Services, has been of great value as the Commissioner team was established. We thank her enormously for her advice and perspective.”

A replacement deputy will be announced shortly, Ms Grant said.
