GP Practices in Taupo and Turangi now fully recruited

John Macaskill-Smith, CEO of Pinnacle Midlands Health Network is pleased to advise that GP vacancies in Taupo and Turangi are now fully recruited and people should contact their practice first if they need clinical advice or care.

Recognising the increased demand for GP services in the area, the PHO has been working with the practices to introduce a new model of care ‘the Health Care Home’ that will improve access to primary care services.

Pinnacle Midlands Health Network Is also introducing a new patient information system, Indici, that will enable patients to have much greater control of their health information and care.

The PHO and Lakes District Health Board are working together to improve access to a range of services and have recently recruited an additional clinical pharmacist and a community health worker to support those patients with a higher level of need.

Lakes DHB Chief Executive Ron Dunham says these changes are very exciting for the area. He says the recruitment of new, highly skilled GPs and the implementation of the new model of service delivery are very positive steps for the Taupo/ Turangi community.
