NHC Clinical Director Moves To Top Role In Te Aka Whai Ora

TĀMAKI MAKAURAU; Friday 5th August 2022: Dr Rachel Brown, Chief Executive of National Hauora Coalition (NHC), announced today that long-time Clinical Director Dr Rawiri McKree Jansen has been appointed Chief Medical Officer at Te Aka Whai Ora (Māori Health Authority).

The appointment comes after Dr McKree Jansen’s recent interim secondment as Clinical Lead Primary Care at the Interim Māori Authority.

Dr Brown says Dr McKree Jansen’s decade-long contribution to NHC has been enormous.

“Rawiri is part of our DNA, his dedication, hard work and enthusiasm has been significant, not just with us but across the sector. His expertise and experience in his new role will be hugely beneficial for Māori whānau across Aotearoa.”

Dr Brown says the health reforms have created exciting new opportunities for Māori health.

“We have several medical advisors, including three Māori GPs, who have taken on some additional tasks during Rawiri’s secondment period, so we are confident of a smooth transition,” says Dr Brown.

Dr McKree Jansen says it had been an honour to serve the organisation with such important kaupapa.

“I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunities that the NHC has given me in the role of Clinical Director over the years. I acknowledge the leadership that Simon Royal provided our kaupapa during this immensely complex time. Reflecting on this experience, I am proud of the work that we have achieved and feel confident that I leave NHC in good hands under Dr Brown’s leadership,” says Dr McKree Jansen.

Dr Brown says their relationship remains strong, and the connection with NHC will always be there.

Dr McKree Jansen will take up the role of Chief Medical Officer from Monday, 29 August, within the office of the Chief Executive of Te Aka Whai Ora.
