More Wet Weather Hits The North

More wet weather is on the way for the North Island with civil defence authorities bracing themselves for further flooding.

Up to 120mm of rain is forecast to fall north of Auckland and 200mm in the Coromandel ranges by 5 am tomorrow. The biggest drenches are expected in the afternoon and evening.

The weekend rains drenched Northland, Auckland and parts of the Waikato and Bay of Plenty and put emergency services into over drive dealing with burst drains and flooded homes.

The rain also caused trouble with traffic. A part from delays from road closures the wet conditions caused many nose to tail accidents over the weekend.

Heavy rain warnings have since been issued for drivers in the Kaimai and Coromandel ranges.
