Mates Bodies And Car Found

Police have discovered the car and the bodies of the three missing Invercargill teenagers.

Police discovered the boys’ brown Mazda 323 partially submerged in the Oreti river, just after midnight this morning. Later in the day police divers found three bodies in the car believed to be of Marc Hill, Richard Kelly and Carl Wilson, all 18.

The car was found 16km north of Invercargill, near a place called Wilsons Crossing after a member of the public reported the car to Invercargill station.

Police say it appeared to have gone down a road damaged by flooding, plunging down a 5-metres bank into the river.

The person who found the car had initially thought it was a dumped vehicle and not reported it.

Police had earlier been searching the southern side of Invercargil after the boys parents advised the police they were heading in that direction

The car was reportedly located after a member of the public advised police he had seen it earlier and thought it was simply a dumped vehicle.

The three had not been seen since Saturday evening when they left Mr Hill's house at Raeburn Avenue in Otatara to buy snacks for the All Black test against Scotland screened at 7:30pm.
