Wellington train well look forward to
Northland: Pleased with having already knocked over
the two traditionally tough Southern rivals - Otago and
Canterbury - Wellington captain says he was looking forward
to taking on Northerners on the weekend.
Speaking after
Tuesday training at Rongotai College Hewitt said: "We
trained well today and put it in. We're happy with our
start especially beat Otago for the first time. But now we
have to concentrate on getting it right against Northland.
Wellington coach Graham Mourie was pleased with the
training but warned "We have to keep it on. The two early
wins were excellent but we have to make sure to continue to
win".
Sidelined with a sore shoulder Lion's lock Dion
Waller reminded observers of the strength of Canterbury two
weeks ago and thus the standard of Wellington's effort to
beat them.
Confirming he will definitely be playing
against Northland Waller was upbeat about the Lions form.
"We beat a good team (canterbury) and the atmosphere was
big that day so we were under pressure.
"Hopefully the
crowd will be out this week as with Justin Collins and Glen
Taylor it's sure to be a tough game.
What can the All Blacks do - Scoop wonders? Come back down to earth ....remember they are human rugby players who only came fourth at the World Cup. With that in mind they to play their guts out, tackle and never give up. The black jersey has so much value. Fans who will never get a chance to touch one let alone don it, run out in it and put their hand on the heart during the game would practically die for the chance to wear it. So to the guys that do we know you wear it with pride - who wouldn't? - but you are supposed to die for it - remember Tiny Hill, Colin Meads, Wayne Shelford and what they'd do when in black and more recently look at much Shane - no pain; maybe no brain - Webke wanted to wear the Broncos colours on the weekend. That is the desire that wins games it's in the head and heart not the gymnasium, shrinks couch or managers office.
