Israel Owns the Earth - Palestine Owns the Moon

Israel Owns the Earth - Palestine Owns the Moon

By Genevieve Cora Fraser

Tanks rumbled
Through narrow
Sandy alleyways
As scores of armored
Carriers, tanks
And bulldozers
Stood by
Perched
Like vultures
Assembled
Along northern
And eastern borders
Of Gaza's cramped
Refugee camp
Confines created
From the remnants
Of Al Nakba massacres
And the Six Day War
As Israeli fighter jets
And helicopter gunships
Flew in formation
To attack
The most densely
Populated place
On God's
Sacred Earth
There Mighty Israel
Stood its ground
To slaughter Innocents
Blasting tank shells
At refugee children
Leaving school
Defenseless in death
Israel's Days of Reckoning
Intent on wrecking
Lives and homes and heritage
Prepared to cut
A surgical swath
Across the land
To lay waste
In retaliation
For Palestinian
Rockets shot
Past the far side
Of the Moon
Three Israelis dead
Versus 300 Palestinians
Slaughtered
In the months before
Now crammed
Into mourning tents
Fractured
Bodies lay stiffening
Shrouded in black
Smoke from tires
Set ablaze to camouflage
Resistance rising
In the gathering storm
Black flags flutter
To Koranic verse
Arab nationalistic music
Blares resistance
Under murky skies
Homemade landmines
Hand grenades
And confiscated rifles
Hurl resistance
At the Billion Dollar
Israeli Offensive
Determined to break
Resistance
Face to face
With the Face of starvation
Disease and dehydration
Of a prosperous People
Laid to waste
Proud but imprisoned
In the twisted rubble
Of Israel's creation
That frames
The red glow
Of a Crescent Moon
Rising from the sea
