Goff Says United Nations Reform Necessary

Foreign Minister Phil Goff has welcomed a report by United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan calling for decisive and bold reform of the UN. "That vision is of a world where all people are more secure, more prosperous, and better able to enjoy their basic human rights. Scoop Report: Two Apples A Day Could Keep Colon-Cancer At Bay

- Marietta Gross reports that scientists have discovered that antioxidants found in apples may block colon cancer cell growth and kill potential cancer cells. A study of the Institute for Cancerous Diseases of the Intestinal Tract in Strasbourg concludes that the consumption of apples could contribute to the prophylaxis of colon cancer. Labour Releases Party List: Maryan Street And Shane Jones Prominent Placements

Despite Wellington fog causing delays and a change of city for the Labour Party list conference, the selection itself, whilst hard fought, was conducted with good humour and respect, according to Labour Party President Mike Williams. HMNZS Te Mana Test-Fires NATO Missile

- The Royal New Zealand Navy frigate HMNZS TE MANA currently in the Tasman Sea off the East Coast of Australia has test fired a NATO Sea Sparrow missile. These firings are conducted once every two years and provide a significant opportunity to prove system operations and the ships operational preparedness.
