QPEC Says Govt Special Needs Funding Less Than 2 Percent Per
Year
- QPEC states that the Government's announcement
by the Associate Minister of Education David Benson-Pope of
an increase of $30.7 million in government funding for
special education is welcome but is still deeply
disappointing in terms of the quantum needed for children
with special education needs to become effective learners in
the classroom. This money is to be spread over 4 years and
amounts to an overall increase of less than 2% per year in
special education funding over this time. See… Special

Brash Details Nat Ed Policy In Speech
- "It is
bizarre that in the 21st century we should manage our
education system as a public monopoly, dominated by two
powerful trade unions and a rapidly expanding Education
Ministry bureaucracy, with one pay scale from early
childhood to secondary school. In this structure, principals
and boards on the one hand, and parents and children on the
other, are mere pawns in a bigger game, where the
bureaucracy and the trade unions share operational control
of the enterprise of educating our young." See... Brash
