Weather and Surf with Noelle
12:15 Dr David
Round
This year’s election campaign is slowly moving from the warming draw and into the oven. Race-relations will undoubtedly be one of the meatier issues in this year’s policy crook pot. Yesterday Noelle talked to Dr David Round from the Faculty of Law at the University of Canterbury. Dr Round is an expert in the Treaty of Waitangi and is also the National Party candidate for Christchurch East. On top of that he is also known for his controversial views on bi-culturalism and the use of traditional Maori spiritual ceremonies during government events. We hear his views at 12:15.
12:30 Jonathan Milne
Our man in Wellington Jonathan Milne gives us the latest and greatest from the corridors, patios and broom closets of power in the Beehive.
12:45 Dr Helen Potter
Dr Potter is the President of Te Mana Akonga which also known the New Zealand Maori Students Association. Aside from representing the interests of the country’s Maori students, she also has a PhD in bi-culturalism from Massey University. Unlike Dr Round she believes that bi-centralism doesn’t really exist in New Zealand and that more needs to done to let Maori run their own services. She’ll give Dr Round a run for his money at 12:45
