Video: Helen Clark Announces Labour-Led Govt
AUDIO: Clark, Peters & Dunne Winners In Labour-Led Govt Deal [1] - Prime Minister Helen Clark has announced that New Zealand First leader Winston Peters and United Future leader Peter Dunne have been allocated ministerial positions in a Labour-led Government. Labour has successfully negotiated a Centre-Right deal that offers immediate assurance that it can govern with New Zealand First and the United Party having signed confidence and supply agreements. The Progressive Party will be inside a coalition with Labour, and the Green Party has committed to support the government during confidence and supply votes but misses out on having a role inside the executive. What Did National Say Regarding the Foreshore And Seabed?
At present there is much heated speculation that National is courting the Maori Party and offering concessions regarding the Foreshore and Seabed legislation - legislation passed with New Zealand First's support in late 2004 - Scoop has taken a trip down memory lane and pulled out some of the choicer quotes made during the passing of this controversial Bill. In May 2004 National leader Don Brash considered the Bill would be a 'poison pill' for Maori that would allow them to 'interfere with the rights of other New Zealanders.' See... Kiwi With Experience Of Devastation Off To Help In Pakistan

With thousands of people dead and missing, the tracking and tracing of children is becoming a key concern for aid agencies working in earthquake-struck Pakistan. Rosalea Barker On San Fran's Newest Talk Show
Well, shave me legs and call me Nermal! Never did I think I'd see the day when a political operative uttered the word "Pshaw" on television. But such is the whacky world of KRON4's Sunday morning show "4 The Record" that the utterance looked entirely in place, even coming from the lips of a young blonde Republican in response to a comment by an old black Democrat. - Judith Miller Writes:… Mr. Fitzgerald asked me to read the final three paragraphs aloud to the grand jury. "The public report of every other reporter's testimony makes clear that they did not discuss Ms. Plame's name or identity with me," Mr. Libby wrote. The prosecutor asked my reaction to those words. I replied that this portion of the letter had surprised me because it might be perceived as an effort by Mr. Libby to suggest that I, too, would say we had not discussed Ms. Plame's identity. Yet my notes suggested that we had discussed her job…. See... Scoop Link: Judith Miller & NYT Come Clean [1] MORE:

Government
responds to Greenhouse Policy Coalition report
- The Greenhouse Policy Coalition's report is a welcome contribution to the debate on climate change policy, but it focussed a little too much on what shouldn't happen rather that on what should. "In calling for action to be taken, albeit later rather than sooner, the Group is admitting that climate change is real and that something needs to be done about it," said Convenor of the Ministerial Group on Climate Change Pete Hodgson.
